AllocNow: 3con project turns into cleantech company
AllocNow GmbH was founded at the beginning of 2021 as an independent 3con spin-off and offers a “Product Sustainability Platform” that enables companies to automatically calculate the environmental impact of their products, communicate it clearly and reduce it in a targeted manner. The software is used by numerous well-known chemical companies – in June 2023, for example, Covestro announced the successful global launch of the LCA solution for around 50,000 products in collaboration with AllocNow.
Birthed in 2020
AllocNow has its origins in an interdisciplinary 3con project team that developed a digital solution for CO₂ allocation for chemical products at the beginning of 2020. The AllocNow brand was registered just six months later.
The decisive factors for this success were the combination of sound technical expertise in sustainability in the chemical industry with modern software solutions for modeling complex value chains and 3con’s more than twenty years of experience in product development and the management of rollout processes.
In 2021, the cleantech start-up also entered into a partnership with BASF with the aim of developing uniform standards for calculating the carbon footprint of chemical products (PCF) based on the guidelines of the industry network TfS (Together for Sustainability).
On course for continuous growth
While the first prototype considered material allocation decisions in multi-output production processes, AllocNow’s current Product Sustainability Platform covers multiple LCA impact categories and is considered a best practice implementation of the industry standard (in line with the TfS PCF guideline).
Following further rounds of financing and an expansion of the management team at the end of 2023, the cleantech company remains on course for growth and is leading the sustainability transformation in the chemical industry and beyond.
